Birth pain relief types? Epidural or no epidural?

I am 25 weeks pregnant with my first, so naturally I’m really scared of labor. I’ve been reading a lot of peoples experiences with epidurals and how they still have back pains years later etc, and how it slows down labor. I do not want to do natural birth, as I know I will not be able to handle it. But what are my other options for pain relief? And would you recommend getting an epidural?

Hi Hun! I would recommend getting an epidural. Labor is totally bare able, painful but bare able. My plan was to have a natural birth then if I couldn’t handle that, explore other pain meds through the iv then the epidural as my last result. Natural birth was out the door was the contractions really started kicking in. Then I was given demorol through my iv. It worked great for the pain…but it sent my heart rate up to 180 beats per minute. Lol I didn’t even care but of course for health reasons they had to take me off of that. So I got my epidural and it was like cake and ice cream from there. I would say go for it. Wishing you a safe delivery.
