what forms of pain relief are available when you give birth?
i feel silly to be getting scared of the whole delivery and what not at 16 weeks but i can’t help it! ): i’m curious to know what options there are.. i know there is the epidural- at first i wanted to do that, but now i’m scared because of the whole idea of a needle being put into your back, and also the pain of it, which is silly because i’m pretty sure the pain of giving birth is worse, but anyways.. what other pain relievers do they have? also, any info on how bad/good epidurals are is greatly appreciated!!

I was scared of giving birth, but in the end when your pregnant, you have to do it!!!
I have the whole fear thing of having needles put into the back, that is why I didn’t go with the epidural. At first, I wanted a water birth but the midwives told me not too because I have epilepsy and If I have a seizure during birth then it could harm the baby…. My labour was over before it began anyway. It only lasted an hour and a half (the whole thing) and I got a shot of morphine in the thigh and then my little angel came out before I know it. He was rushed up to NICU within 30 minutes of birth and I had a seizure the next day of giving birth and broke my arm so it wasn’t that good. But if you do get an epidural and they hit the blood vessel in your back it can be damaging, even paralysing, depending on how hard they hit it and also some woman complain later in life of aching backs because of the epidural, so I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone. Breaking my arm hurt more then giving birth for me, but there are other options of pain relief..
Morphine (can be inhaled or given as gas or needle in the thigh)
Epidural
Water Birth (Sit in the birthing tub and give birth)
No pain relief (have to be brave for that) LoL
TENS machine ( Transcutaneous Electrical nerve stimulation)
