My wife has been diagnosed with shingles. What pain relief is available without drowsiness?
Prescribed Valtrex, nurse suggested Ibuprofen, not naproxen. Going to see PCP in the morning, but this has been a horrid week!

Pain from shingles can be very severe. Anything to ease that type of pain can be something which causes drowsiness. Lyrica may help w/pain also or Neurontin, but both can cause drowsiness. She could take it at bedtime and at least hope for some rest.
